It's 2019 and the first trade shows of the year are just about to kick off. In industry-speak these are the Q1 shows and are possibly the most important of the year as Christmas is behind us, retailers look to plan out their stock for Spring and Summer and suppliers launch new products. That's why - confusingly, seeing as they start in January - a lot of these shows are the "Spring/Summer" or "S/S" iterations. January and February see a number of overlapping shows and the larger exhibitors will split up their teams to cover more than one at a time or prep for successive weekends of travelling the country showing off their wares. This carnival of stuff starts early but in 2020 it'll start even earlier with the introduction of a new year PG Live.

Once upon a time, back when we were a humble indie greeting card publisher working off our kitchen table, we used to take part in this caravan of giftware. These days we leave the showing in the hands of our licensees, and we just occasionally pop down to a show to witness a launch, catch up with fellow travellers of the giftware industry and generally have a mooch about.

So, the Q1 shows are where you'll get a peek at the summer, and where most of the significant product launches take place. This is what it'll look like for I Like Birds at Scotland's Trade Fair, Spring Fair, Top Drawer and Harrogate Christmas Show in early 2019…

Harrogate Christmas Show 13/16 Jan 2019

The Art File - Stand Q56

Haven't you had enough of Christmas already? Obviously not as the preparations for Christmas 2019 get going in January. The Art File will be on stand Q56, exhibiting their 2019 Christmas cards and wrap AND a new line of cards from us…

Top Drawer 13/15 Jan 2019

The Art File - Stand W41

Top Drawer is a design focussed fair, taking place at Olympia in London, and "curated" to keep the quality high. Being multi award winning greeting card publishers it's a natural place for our friends at The Art File to exhibit. They'll be splitting their team as it coincides with Harrogate, so it'll also see the launch of our new line of "Birds & Blooms" cards

Browntrout - Stand X33

Joining The Art File will be Browntrout, who have published the range of official I Like Birds calendars for the past couple of years. At Top Drawer they'll be showing off our expanded range for 2020 that includes a desk planner, 2020 Square Wall Calendar, Slimline Calendar, A3 Family Organiser and - new to the team - a luxury A3 "Birds & Blooms" calendar

Scotland's Trade Fair 20/22 Jan 2019

The Art File - Stand L31

Back for another year and with their biggest stand ever The Art File transport their stands from London to Glasgow for the amazing Scotland's Trade Fair. Again they'll have our full range of cards and gift bags, ready to show to our loyal Scottish stockists at what is the best humoured and funnest show of the year - it's winter, it's Glasgow, it's super friendly and you'll see lots of suppliers that exhibit nowhere else.

Paperworld 26/29 Jan 2019
Frankfurt am Main

Browntrout Hall 3.1 Stand J89

Showing off our calendars to the European market, Browntrout will again have our full range of 2020 calendars

Spring Fair 3/7 Feb 2019

Finishing off the Q1 trade fairs with a monster of a show, Spring Fair takes place at the NEC, Birmingham, and is so big that there are buses laid on to get people around the show and from one hall to another. Try walking it and, at a decent pace, it takes around half an hour to get from one end to next…that's without stopping to look at anything and missing out some halls entirely en route! 2,500 exhibitors jostle for space and attention from the 70K+ visitors who will have come from all over the world to attend. The end of day one sees the gala Gift of the Year awards take place

My Gifts Trade Hall 9 Stand 9C20-D21

Our friends at My Gifts Trade always do us proud and this year will be no exception. They'll have an expanded range of our core lines of mugs, jugs, tea pots, coasters, placemats, tea towels, aprons and trays…PLUS the launch of our new  "Birds & Blooms" range PLUS a huge shop window of "stuff" PLUS a couple of surprises that we REALLY want to talk about but can't just yet!

The Art File Hall 3 Stand 3S07

Polishing off their Q1 shows The Art File bring it all back together with a huge stand full of paper based goodness

Browntrout Hall 3-3A Stand 3M20

Naturally Browntrout will be at the biggest show of the year, with their extensive range of over 1,000 calendars

Opticaid Hall 4 Stand 4D53

Eyewear supplier Opticaid will be in Hall 4. They might just have a surprise up their sleeve...
